ABOUT ME

I am a freelance writer currently based in the United Arab Emirates. Originally from Germany, I moved to the UK after finishing school to study Marine Biology and ended up with a Bachelor of Science degree and a husband.

After 10 years in the UK, I relocated to Qatar where I started writing in earnest and soon got ‘snapped up’ by Qatar Airways who put me in charge of publishing their monthly newsletter, writing daily press releases, speeches for senior management, brochures and web content for the airline and, last but certainly not least, putting together the monthly inflight magazine, Oryx.

Eventually leaving Qatar for a one year long interlude in Oman, I am now in Dubai freelancing full time for a myriad of regular regional as well as international clients. Having so far published close to 1,000 articles, features and news items in magazines, ezines and newspapers around the world, not to mention plenty of copy-writing credits, I specialise on life & style, travel and local issues, but am happy to tackle any request, as I feel that “there is nothing that isn’t interesting, if only you research it well”.

That attitude has allowed me to learn and write about bottling local drinking water; investigate the dangers of plastic tea cups; has taken me to Bahrain to race on the Grand Prix circuit; to Japan during the cherry blossom; allowed me to interview enthusiastic people about their customised cars; eat at great – and not so great – restaurants; probe the advances in mobile telecommunications in Oman; talk to one of the last Gulf pearl divers and to many heads of companies, and - oh, the effort – sample the odd spa or two along the way.

In my spare time I read voraciously and try to travel as much as possible, having so far ‘collected’ more than 50 countries around the world and counting…
